'Sound of Summer' Orchestra Concert

Finding my place in classical music

Shanghai Starriver Philharmonic Orchestra & SSBS Chamber Orchestra

As a cellist in the Shanghai Starriver Philharmonic Orchestra, I have performed at multiple occasions, from the “Spring Melody” noontime concert, to the GLDC Ballroom Dance City League opening ceremony, and to the Ivy Charity Concert hosted at the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall. Our philharmonic orchestra was also a frequent guest of school events such as New Year Parties and Let Hope Play charity concerts, serving as the opening show every single time. In celebration of our orchestra’s 6th anniversary, we hosted the “Sound of Summer” exclusive orchestra concert, playing a wide-ranging repertoire including symphonies, concertos, sonatas, overtures, and operas, attracting over 500 audience members. In my junior year, I became a founding member of the SSBS Chamber Orchestra. Transitioning from a large ensemble to a smaller classical group, I took on the task of arranging and recreating works for a reduced string texture. In addition to the orchestra, I started performing in school concerts with the chamber group as well, learning to manage the redistribution of melodic lines.
